Fire emergency drills were held by the Division of Property on Jan. 17th to further standardize fire safety, upgrade the staff’s capability in responding to emergent fires and using more self-saving and evacuation methods.
The drills were done in two stages. In the first one, the imaginary fire site was the 6th floor of Building C wreathed in smoke. With an emergency plan, the Division of Property signaled an alert, organizing evacuation of all staff: staffers in offices of the northwestern area evacuated from the escape stairs in the north and those in southeastern area left from stairs in the north (lift-taking was forbidden) ,followed by all staff’s evacuation, along designated route, to the lounge of the ground floor. In the second stage, after precise nose count, Party Secretary WANG Jianhua (commander of the drills) gave a summary, announcing the success of the drills.
The exercise lasted for 15 minutes, participated by 200-odd staffers, who sharpened their awareness of fire prevention, basic knowledge and emergency skills, realizing the goal of “unremitting alert to fires with the consciousness of prevention prior to occurrences”.
