Prior to the 40th anniversary of the great quake, Engineering Reinforcement Department of the Institute contracted the renovation and decoration of the guesthouse where President XI Jinping would stay during his tour in the city.
On June 23rd, WANG Chao, YAN Weizeng, SONG Wentao were sent on the mission for on-the-site instructions for the project. The guesthouse, as a reception venue for state and foreign leaders, called for meticulous decorations that must not be willfully altered but be bettered as per specifications and the functions of some houses were also to be changed. It was with the pursuit of “Perfectness and Precision” that all staffers involved rose up early everyday, inspecting every room, taking pictures, revising design drawings, exchanging ideas and amending plans. Though exhausted, every one worked with full passion and a sense of achievement, giving timely and precise instructions for toilet layout, plug positions, pipe directions and even sizes of furniture, leaving no errors unsolved. A month’s hard work beautified the state-level guesthouse, putting it on breath-taking grace.
On July 28th, President Xi Jinping stepped into the Exhibit Hall of Tangshan Planning, inspecting the achievements over the past 40 years, personally acknowledging that the city is striving to develop itself into a window of cooperation for northeastern Asia, a base of new type of industrial transformation in Bohai rim and a pivot in the Capital Economic Circle. Standing on the central platform while viewing the videos of achievements and sand table of planning of the city, XI exclaimed with encouragement that the “Belt-Road Strategy” and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Province Integral Development Strategy would much more facilitate Tangshan’s development for specific goals in terms of internal and external conditions.
