The Institute Undertakes EPC Project of Tangshan Bank Information Data Center
On December 31, 2019, the Institute successfully won the bid for "Survey-Design-Procurement-Construction EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) project of Bank of Tangshan Co., Ltd Information Data Center". The project base is located south of No.2 Road, in the Houbianzhuang Industrial Park, Lunan District, Tangshan City.
The project is a new high-grade data center launched by Bank of Tangshan Co., Ltd in order to meet the business development in the next 10 years, improve the independent controllability and upgrade the infrastructure construction standards. With a construction area of about 20,000 square meters, this project is the largest data center building in the city at present, and it is also the first EPC project with information technology services as its main function undertaken by the Institute. Two departments of the Institute, Scheme Design Center and Urban Design Center, completed the scheme design and the construction drawing design respectively.
The architectural modeling uses a rectangular shape without complicated nonessentials, presenting a classic but not antiquated look. The warehouse adopts corridor design, which expands the optional range of materials for exterior wall, whose surface uses a glass curtain wall material and a double-layer structure which brings a unique aesthetic feeling in modern style. The wall of production workshop adopts an aluminum plate-covered material with exquisite details such as perforated lamp strips of the enterprise logo. The metal surface highlights the specifics of the building and the characteristics of the enterprise. The contrast of architectural surface materials and interspersed shape treatment techniques demonstrate a simple but elaborately-decorated style in proper scale and organization, creating the modern appearance of top-grade science and technology park buildings.
The overall design of the building uses free-standing layout, with each function built independently, forming a sense of enclosure in space. The tall warehouse and production workshop are arranged in the northwest side in an L-shape, ensuring the openness of the southeast space of the factory to the maximum extent. The low-rise functional buildings for supporting facilities and power machines lie in the southeast. Roof decks are set as venues to form a multi-level three-dimensional park landscape and activity space through vertical transportation organization.
Construction Drawing Design
The Tangshan Bank Information Data Center is Grade A, the highest grade, in security. As an important node of Tangshan Bank Network Center, it involves many important business systems. Once its operation interrupts, great economic losses might be caused. Therefore, the data center needs to be equipped with power supply and distribution system guaranteed by diesel generator room, UPS power supply, security facilities, fire alarm system and gas fire extinguishing system. In the design of building structure, the seismic fortification category of the data center is set as the key fortification building, and thus it requires corresponding seismic isolation design measures. Compared with general buildings, information data buildings have more distinct design features and overall requirements, and are more challenging for designers in professional knowledge and technical ability. Only by focusing on the key points and core of its constructional design can designers work out an information data building of strong applicability and high security.
In order to fully understand the priorities and difficulties in the design of the project, the designers specially visited Huawei cloud data centers in Caofeidian and Langfang for professional guidance in building plan, section, structure, seismic performance, waterproof, lightning protection grounding requirements, thermal insulation, power supply and distribution system. They gained rich experience from the excellent building cases.
The construction drawing design scheme was developed from macro to micro. To ensure the safety of data center, none of the designs of architecture, structure, water heating and electricity should be underestimated. Although having conducting deliberate investigation and made a possible best design scheme with reference to various design standards and specifications in the early stage of project, the designers still encountered difficulties in the design implementation stage. Especially in the aspect of electrical design, the building must use the power supply mode which is of high reliability and free from power failure. That requires optimal design of main line and standby line. Faced with these problems, the designers displayed indomitable determination, courage and will, overcame untold technical challenges, and finally, accomplished the construction drawing design and successfully passed the examination. At present, various formalities for the early stage of construction is being handled with help of Project Management Center of the Institute.
