Recently, the result of Ninth “Innovation Cup” Building Information Modeling (BIM) Application Contest was revealed. The Institute won the Rookie award for the work entitled “BIM Technology Application in the Underground Utility Tunnel Project (PhaseⅠ) of Tangshan Downtown Area” co-designed by its Project Consolidation Dept (Architectural Design Dept.Ⅴ) and Tangshan Huaxun Technology Co., Ltd. The contest was hosted jointly by the China Engineering & Consulting Association and Autodesk Software (China) Co., Ltd. and attended by many famous universities and provincial design institutes across China.
In recent years, BIM technology has developed rapidly in engineering, design and construction industries. The annual “Innovation Cup” BIM Application Contest launched in 2010, has witnessed the steady development and achievements of BIM technology. It is reported that in the competition were totally 863 entries from the nationwide engineering organizations, and that the winning works were picked out through preliminary evaluation by expert panels, online evaluation and final evaluation.
In order to keep up with the development of engineering and design technologies, the Institute has built up a mature BIM design team since the establishment of BIM Research Center in November 2016. Through unremitting efforts and innovation, the team has completed the BIM designs for a number of projects, including the Xinhua Road Section of Underground Utility Tunnel Project (PhaseⅠ) of Tangshan Downtown Area, the Giant Panda House of Tangshan Zoo, Huangcheng Laoma Small-sized Commercial Street of Dockside Caofeidian Business District. All the projects have gained their owners’ recognition. Beyond these, the Institute regarded this award as the best affirmation of its BIM technology design and application.
