On August 22, 2018, the bid opening and evaluation meeting for the pre-design of Huaxi Lake A and B supporting plots was held in the conference room of Guizhou Huanshui Project Bidding Cost Consulting Co., Ltd, with a total of 11 design units as bidders. Though evaluation, the design of A plot completed by the Institute’s Plan Creation Center won the third place, preceded by Guizhou University Institute of Engineering Invstigation & Design (ranked second) and Guizhou Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. （ranked first）
Huaxi Lake Project is located at the middle of Huaxi District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. Five kilometers from Nanhuan Highway and near Guizhou University, it enjoys an outstanding location. Marshal Chen Yi used to write a poem for Huaxi, “True mountains and waters are everywhere; the layout in Huaxi is more natural than anywhere else; the river, as bright as a mirror, runs for ten miles; flower nurseries are mixed with fields”.
The ideal of our design scheme is based on the most representative “mountain-water-field composite”of the natural landscape of Huaxi. However, we abstracted and recreated it -- the high-rise structure is designed to represent “mountain”, the lower part to represent “field”, and the landscape in Huaxi to represent natural "water". Because there exists a prominent height difference in the site, the designers adopted the “stacked-floor” method which is typically used in dealing with buildings in mountain areas. Through the ingenious arrangement of commercial facilities and garages, our scheme can tactfully level the internal ground of the community. At the same time, the scheme has made full use of the height difference of the site and has forged a "multi-first-floor" commercial structure. Also, it utilized the externalization principle of internal effects in a commercial business and created a multi-functional panoramic commercial space.The house makes full use of the surrounding landscape resources and prioritizes the
integration and conversion of indoor and outdoor space, thus creating a living space where every household has a good view and green environment. Its architectural style is dominated by white, with horizontal lines as the main design elements of the façade. The bright and flexible modern architectural style and Huaxi's nutural beauty, featuring verdant hills, green waters, blue sky and white clouds, complementing each other.
Through taking part in the bid, the Creation Center has greatly improved its design level and further enhanced its cohesion and confidence. It is believed that in the future the young team will fully release its potential in practices. We hope they will perform better in the coming years!
