On February 13, 2018, members of the Institute’s Party committee and leading group attended the leading cadres’ democratic meeting for 2017 in Meeting Room 211, Building C. LEI Jiandong, Associate Investigator of Tangshan Municipal Bureau of Housing & Urban-Rural Development, and ZHANG Shanliang, Deputy Secretary of Organ Party Committee of the bureau, were present at the meeting, which was presided over by Secretary WANG Jianhua of the Institute.
LEI Jiandong listened carefully to the reports based-on self-examinations, which were given by the members of Party committee and the leading group. He concluded by saying this democratic meeting had played a role of boosting self-improvement and self-perfecting through seeking out own and others’ problems. When making a self criticism, everyone was able to confront problems with a frank, honest and rigorous attitude; when criticizing others, everyone was committed to public interests and put forward pertinent suggestions based on facts. In light of the fact that the Institute was constituted by intellectuals of professionalism and academicism, he emphasized that the leadership should attach great importance to Party building, phase out the disconnection between Party affairs and professional work, focus on exploring new work methods for Party building, and link up Party building work with annual assessment. He required the Institute should, according to the meeting requirements, sort out the problems once more, clarify the responsibility for rectification and the time limit for completion, and implement rectification in a timely manner to ensure effective results.
Secretary WANG first clearly defined the theme of the democratic meeting before making self-examination remarks based on the Party’s requirements on behalf of the Party committee and himself respectively, and took the lead in conducting self-criticism. Those following him to do so in turn were Deputy Secretary SONG Zehua and committee members LIU Yumin, WU Xiaokun, LI Shuanglai, and LIU Huanzhong before others successively made criticisms and suggestions accordingly. In self-criticism, the leaders faced up to problems without holding back and dug deep into the roots. When criticizing each other, they dared to stick to the principle and come to straight to the point.
By means of self-analysis and manual criticizing at the democratic meeting, the executives got their ideas to collide in a harmonious atmosphere and built consensus, making more explicit the striving direction and improvement measures. This meeting enforced the style of work featuring interactive exchange and harmonious democracy and achieved the purpose of "unity -- criticism -- unity”.
