On the morning of May 4, 2018, the Conference Marking the 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Karl Marx was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, capital of China. Chinese President Xi Jinping, also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, spoke during the conference. To impel all the Party members in the Institute to study and understand Xi's speech promptly, the Party committee of the Institute organized them watching the live broadcast collectively.
Xi’s speech contained profound thoughts and rich content. With broad vision and great far-sight, the address revealed the essence of Marxism in an all-around manner, highlighted the development of Marxism in adaption to Chinese context, and demonstrated the great success of scientific socialism in China. The participants in the watching activity were greatly inspired. They pledged to exploit the opportunity of commemorating the 200th anniversary of Marx’s birth to take greater initiative to study Marxist theory until mastering the spiritual essence and rich connotation of Marxism. Furthermore, they will combine studying Marxism with studying Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, as well as with fulfilling daily work. They vowed to stay true to their mission, forge ahead with determination and stay committed to their duties, thus making due contributions to the healthy development of all undertakings in the Institute and the cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics.
